America’s New Militarized Police

All across America we have come to notice a very alarming and fear provoking presence. One of unprecedented power and discomfort that invokes both thoughts and feelings of bewilderment. This uncommon sight that we are only accustomed to seeing in times of war, has overtly made it’s presence visible in the streets of America. We are familiar with seeing such powerful weaponry broadcast on our news programs on foreign soil to battle America’s enemies and fight against those who threaten to inflict harm on her body of democracy. America has been to us the home of unbridled freedom and liberties. She has embraced her children in her bosom to protect them against those that would cause them harm.

Today, her children are confronted with a militarized presence that one would only expect to see in a dictatorial country. We have come face to face with weaponry of enormous power on full display in the streets of America where we assemble for peaceful protest and freedom of speech. These high powered assault rifles in the possession of local police decked out in full combat gear have on numerous occasions had their sights aimed at unarmed American citizens. When has America’s citizens become the target of oppression by the very force that is compensated to protect them? Granted, there aren’t any written laws or legislature that affords us this right.

The right to protest is a perceived human right arising out of a number of recognized human rights. However, unarmed citizens that do not pose a threat to anyone and the very presence of this militarized force in our streets leaves one with the visual impression of a war zone. Have we now become the enemy and a threat to national security instead of the terrorist? Why has law enforcement been given a free pass to terrorize and violate the rights of American citizens whom they are sworn to serve and protect? Do we not recall how innocent and unarmed students of Kent State who were shot and killed by our own National Guardsmen? We are not the enemy and we will no longer continue to be treated as such. We have arrived at the point where we the citizens require protection from the protectors. It is time to disarm and dismantle this institution of law enforcement of it’s military weaponry. They haven’t any justifiable purpose to be in possession of it. More importantly, America is the land of freedom and justice for all and she should exemplify that. She has slowly strayed from her constitutional promise and is precariously slipping off the foundation on which she was constructed. It is incumbent upon us that we right her before she completely collapses.

WE HAVE ARRIVED AT A PERIOD IN TIME WHERE THE WORLD HAS TRANSITIONED INTO A PLACE THAT IS RIFE WITH TERRORISTS ATTACKS , CONFLICTS, WARRING FACTIONS, RELIGIOUS AND POLITICAL CONTROVERSY, GLOBAL WARMING, SOCIAL UNREST, ECONOMICAL IMBALANCE, CLASS WARFARE, DISEASE, HOMELESSNESS, SELF DESTRUCTION OF HUMANKIND, ABSENCE OF INTEGRITY, MORALS, SELF IDENTITY, KNOWLEDGE AND EDUCATION.

WE ARE ENCAPSULATED IN IGNORANCE, MASS CONFUSION AND POSSESS VERY LITTLE UNDERSTANDING OF THE WORLD IN WHICH WE LIVE. CONSEQUENTIALLY THIS HAS GIVEN RISE TO SO MANY OF US BEING VOID OF ANY REAL SENSE OF PURPOSE OR DIRECTION AND TO WHICH A LOT HAVE FALLEN PREY TO AN INDUSTRY THAT SELLS THEM ON GANGSTERISM, THUG-ISM AND GLAMORIZES THE DEGRADATION OF WOMEN AND MURDER. WE HAVE BEEN SO CONDITIONED THAT WE LACK ANY SEMBLANCE OF SELF RESPECT OR RESPECT FOR OTHERS. SO I ASK THE QUESTION, HOW CAN WE EXPECT TO COMMAND ANY RESPECT IF RESPECT IS NOT GIVEN?.

WE ENGAGE IN UNLAWFUL ACTS OF VIOLENCE, DRUGS, THIEVERY, CHICANERY AND CONDUCT OURSELVES WITH UTTER BUFFOONERY FOR THE WORLD TO WITNESS. WE ARE MURDERING EACH OTHER WITH A COMPLETE DISREGARD FOR HUMAN LIFE. WE HAVE SLIPPED INTO AN ABYSS OF BOTTOM FEEDERS WITH NO CLEAR SENSE OF DIRECTION. THIS DEBILITATING AND DESTRUCTIVE CONDITION HAS BEEN ALLOWED TO PROLIFERATE FROM GENERATION TO GENERATION. NOW, A LARGE SEGMENT OF OUR POPULATION HAVE BECOME SELF APATHETIC DARKNESS DWELLERS AFFLICTED WITH IGNORANCE. WE HAVE THE HIGHEST HIGH SCHOOL DROP OUT RATE WHICH IS TWICE THAT OF WHITES

WE HAVE THE HIGHEST NUMBER OF FAMILIES LIVING JUST ABOVE OR BELOW THE POVERTY LINE.

WE ARE INCARCERATED AT A MUCH HIGHER RATE. APPROXIMATELY 40% OF 2.5 MILLION MALE INMATES ARE BLACK. FORTY PERCENT, THAT’S ALMOST HALF THE MALE INMATE POPULATION

WE HAVE DOUBLE THE AMOUNT OF TEENAGE PREGNANCY THAN WHITES

THIS UNDOUBTEDLY IS NOT A PATHWAY TO SUCCESS BUT MORE OF A PATH THAT MOST ASSUREDLY WILL LEAD TO FAILURE AND SELF DESTRUCTION. THE LIST OF NEGATIVE COMPONENTS IS EXTENSIVE AND YET WE EITHER CHOOSE NOT TO TAKE NOTICE OR WE NOTICE AND CHOOSE NOT TO ACKNOWLEDGE IT. EITHER WAY THE DISEASE WILL MALIGN US FOR GENERATIONS AS IT GOES UNABATED AND CONTINUES TO REMAIN A PREVALENT AND DESTRUCTIVE ORGANISM WITHIN US, OUR COMMUNITIES AND THE WORLD IF LEFT UNABATED. OUR VESSELS ARE WEAK, ILL CONSTRUCTED AND THE CREWS LACK THE KNOWLEDGE AND LEADERSHIP NEEDED TO MAKE THIS JOURNEY. ONCE WE EMBARK ON THIS JOURNEY OUR VESSEL ( Movement ) MUST BE CONSTRUCTED OF GREAT STRENGTH ,ENDURANCE AND INTEGRITY. This country is very familiar with the Klansman of old who under the cover of darkness donned white hoods, sheets and conducted a campaign of terror throughout America that targeted former African-American slaves, their families and descendants. These were the white Southern and Midwest citizens of the United States of America whose lineage is from that of former slave owners and others. These are the white citizens of America that during the period of slavery and afterwards, committed despicable and cowardly acts of violence, rape and murder. This is an untold period of historical fact of an America that has clothed herself in the red, white and blue garment of virtue (conformity to moral and ethical principles), integrity, patriotism and democracy.
She has been presented to the world as the epitome of greatness, strength and power. Yet the very fabric from which her garment is weaved has become soaked and stained of blood spilled from the countless innocent lives that these cowards cloaked in white sheets have taken. They have castrated, maimed, whipped, lynched, burned alive, raped, sodomized, impregnated with their seed, and murdered a large segment of the African-American people. They have in the dead of night burned crosses on the front lawns of African-American families with malicious intent to intimidate and terrorize. They have marched openly in the streets of America spewing vile and racist rhetoric at a people solely based on the color of skin. They have out of hatred and jealousy bombed from planes an entire town of prominent and successful African-Americans citizens who seized the opportunity of freedom to pursue prosperity and democracy. They have murdered and burned innocent young African-American girls attending church. Imagine that, these so-called self-proclaimed Christians who glorify themselves as white supremacists taking the lives of other Christians. One would ask how and why would anyone commit such reprehensible acts of violence upon another human being? Oh let us not forget that these same so-called Christians crucified their beloved Jesus. One would also ask why and how could such conduct and deplorable behavior be allowed to persist without the demand for justice and prosecution?

The answer to this question is a very simple one. America’s virtuous garment of patriotism, democracy, freedom, liberty, and justice for all is threaded with hypocrisy. For she has beckoned to the call of duty on more than one occasion the African-American to stand up and defend her honor against perpetrators of violence and destroyers of democracy. America on the other hand has failed to provide any manner of defense or protection for her African-American defenders and their children. She has not and will not question the atrocities that have been and currently still are today exacted upon them by her white defenders and their children. She has turned her back on those and their descendants who have with unwavering courage and loyalty fought, shed blood, and died for her so that she could maintain freedom and democracy. This same freedom and privilege however is not extended to the African-American children of her nation. Instead there is a constant stream of hate, violence, racial discrimination, and murder that we endure at the hands of her venomous and despicable white children. Yes America, land of the free and the home of the brave is a thankless , non reciprocating coward as it pertains to her African-American children.

She has songs written with words of glorification that attest to her majestic presence, but these words are more befitting.

She will insist to us African-Americans that we forget about slavery and the wretchedness that she has bathed in. We however, haven’t any intention to forget or turn a blind eye to the past or to the present. AFRICAN AMERICANS AGAINST POLICE BRUTALITY, MISCONDUCT AND MURDER
The time has come for us and those who support us to take a stand and form a united front against the senseless, violent, and murderous acts committed by law enforcement officers throughout the United States. These are the American citizens both men and women that have sworn an oath to serve and protect the very citizens they victimize. This is the establishment that has a duty to protect and serve but instead violates that contract of oath with the American people by its deplorable conduct. Since 911 there have been more American Citizens killed by Law Enforcement in the U.S. than by terrorists. An excess of over 5000 Americans citizens since then have lost their lives at the hands of police officers which is an alarming number at any rate.
We the people are continuously victimized by these overzealous maniacs whose badge and uniform are supposed to be a representation of integrity and honor. We are supposed to feel safe and confident when we see these civil servants in uniform but instead we feel threatened. As United States citizens it is our tax dollars that supports and pays the salaries of this Law Enforcement Agency. Yet we, the citizens of the United States of America who pay for the protection of this agency seek a need for protection against them. What have we become as a nation when we allow American citizens who wear the uniform of law to beat, kick, shoot, murder and violate the rights of the American citizens they have sworn to serve and protect?
When has it become acceptable to shoot down in cold blood any citizen that has raised his or her hands in the air to surrender or one who is fleeing?
When has a citizen carrying a pocket knife become more dangerous than a citizen with an assault rifle or firearm exercising their right to open carry?
When has the use of deadly force become necessary to disarm any citizen carrying anything other than a firearm?
When has it become acceptable to beat any female citizen with fists, to place her in a choke hold or to throw her to the ground with severe, unnecessary, and brutal force that causes extensive injuries or death?
When has it become acceptable to punch or tip over any handicapped citizen in a wheelchair who clearly offers no indication of being a threat?
When has it become acceptable to viciously beat, taser or shoot with deadly force any citizen that has been handcuffed? What possible threat could they be at that point? Why is it possible to tase and subdue armed white men who have killed and shot numerous people without killing them but an unarmed Black man has to be shot and killed?
How is it possible to rule that the majority of these officers acted in self-defense or that their actions were completely justifiable?
These are just a few vicious and heinous acts of violence committed by these officers in blue who have become more representative of black and blue…Are we a country that sits idly by and allows these officers whose actions are those of a death squad to continue without challenge or accountability? We are talking about cold-blooded murder and I as another human being has become extremely tired and discontented with the lack of concern or effort by the Federal Government to take the appropriate action to protect its citizens from such blatant acts of violence and murder by law enforcement officers. It is time that this agency review it’s procedures as it pertains to arrest and apprehension. It must review it policies regarding which situations require the use of deadly force. The use of deadly force should never be exercised by any officer against an unarmed citizen.

My proposal is that it is time for us to put our money where our mouth is. We need to bring national attention to this out of control epidemic of violence. We need to boycott all National holiday sales as a beginning. Organized Massive boycotts or work stoppages that will impact the economy need to be planned and executed. This is not just an African-American issue, this is a Human Rights issue. I am imploring all American citizens that are fed up with the deplorable conduct of our Law Enforcement Agency’s to organize and to make an impact..

If you say you are tired of the senseless beatings, if you say you are fed up with the murders that aren’t prosecuted, if you say you are done with the civil rights violations, harassment, profiling and you want to make a statement, then this is your opportunity to do so. This can and should be a national if not global boycott that could possibly have a huge impact for our cause. We can boycott this day and every other huge sale day if need be in order to be taken seriously. This is a prime opportunity for us as American citizens to demand to have our voices heard and become relevant.
If you are not willing to sacrifice buying the latest gadgets, toys or big screen sets then you are not ready for a change. If you can not for one or two days refrain from the lure of shopping and you have very little faith in the power that your money has, then you are not ready for change. How much longer are you willing to tolerate this reprehensible behavior and conduct by law enforcement? How much longer are you willing to allow these officers to make a mockery of justice and your rights as citizens? How many more citizens have to be brutally beaten or murdered before these officers are held accountable? We can not shoot them down in the streets but we can and must make a statement with our dollars. This is not a huge sacrifice and I know that there are a lot of people who might be skeptical.
