This Black Man, This Black Problem

This Black man speaks to a specific individual who is an overall  weak and frightened individual who is more concerned with his image than he is with matters of substance. He has adopted a propensity for pointing the finger of blame at the white man and others for his problems and is very reluctant to acknowledge his own obvious flaws in character as well as decision-making.

The institution of slavery has come and gone while the institution of imprisonment has emerged in its place.  No longer is this Black man or his people forced into a life of subjugation.  However, as of today there are approximately  over 2 million men in prisons in America to which the majority  (over half of them ) one million plus  (1, 000,000 + ) are Black men.  It’s quite obvious that a large segment of us have migrated away from the corridors of education and into the vestibules of incarceration. One would have to ask the question, what has so drastically  impacted the current landscape in America for this Black man? Perhaps Volunteered Subjugation?

This Black man of today has allowed himself to become misguided, weakened, afraid and complacent. This Black man has embraced a lifestyle of gangsterism, thugism, crime and treat our Black women with an unabashed blatant disrespect as though they were the scum of the earth and only useful for sexual exploitation. This Black man has become disillusioned and ignorant and chooses to pursue whimsical examples of success and power.  This Black man parades around with his pants halfway down exposing his buttocks for the world to see and hasn’t a shred of self-respect or dignity. This Black man has constructed an adversarial relationship with his brother Black man transforming their communities into battlefields, not the white man because he doesn’t live there.

This Black man has created an atmosphere of extreme violence and restriction that prevents little Black children from having normal playful lives for fear of catching a stray bullet. Not the white man because he doesn’t live there. This Black man is a reckless and ruthless murderer who is mowing down innocent brothers and sisters in a hail of bullets,. Not the white man because he doesn’t live there. This Black man preys on the  innocent and poor with an onslaught of armed robberies, burglaries and numerous petty crimes that have plagued and sapped the life out of the community. Not the white man because he doesn’t live there. This Black man is peddling drugs to our people who poisons their mind and wreaks havoc on their bodies and lives with addiction. Not the white man because he doesn’t live there.  This Black man has impregnated numerous young Black women who are left to bear and raise children on their own. Not the white man because he doesn’t live there. The streets and buildings in some of these Black communities throughout America are laid with waste, garbage, filth and dilapidated cockroach infested housing conditions that arise from neglect, irresponsibility and a lack of concern perpetuated by this Black man and others. Not the white man because he doesn’t live there.

What the white man does do, is police the streets of these communities because this Black man has become so lazy and ignorant that he produces an atmosphere of crime and mayhem.  The white man constructs prisons throughout America because he knows that this Black man will be taking up residence there. The white man writes laws that specifically target this Black man because he knows that these fools will violate them giving him cause to apprehend and arrest them. The white man  knows that this Black man will run off at the mouth and then whimper like a baby when he proceeds to handcuff him and commences to beating him with his billy club. The white man knows that this black man more often than not will be a convicted felon or become frightened and flee giving him cause to shoot him down in the streets. The white man  knows that this Black man isn’t educated and informed so they will take advantage of him with stop and frisk and if he resists, again beat him with his billy club because this Black man will not dare fight back. The white man knows that he can come into this Black man’s community and randomly stop him, disrespect him and violate his rights because this Black man’s bark is bigger than his bite.. The white man is bold and aggressive because he knows that even as the multitude of onlookers bare witness to their heinous and violent behavior that no one would dare interfere  with them with the exception of taking video because they are frightened and weak.

This is very reminiscent of the former institution of slavery where the overseer beats the SLAVE  into submission while this Black man has a vision of severe punishment looming over his head if he refuses to comply. The white man oppresses and shames  this Black man as they once did during slavery to illicit a weak and docile Black man, one that will address him as no sir and yes sir. The white man acts with irrefutable impunity towards this Black man for the white man fears no form of reprisal from this Black man or his comrades. What does it take for this Black man to stand up and challenge his aggressors? This Black man will not rise and fight because he is afraid of the ultimate action and or consequences that he will face from the white man. This Black man will however, rise up against another Black man but will not show resistance against the white man who is his true adversary. This Black man will misdirect his anger and frustrations towards his Black woman and sometimes his Black children who should be the ones most dear to him.. This Black man does not resemble the strong, educated and trail blazers of  Black men days past. This Black man is loud and boisterous and projects a tough exterior to mask his lack of strength, courage and confidence. This Black man derives his power from the gun but without it he is powerless.  The white man knows and understands this all too well about this Black man and will continue to maintain his dominance over him.

One is left with the undeniable impression that the white man knows this Black mans tendencies extremely well and capitalizes on his ignorance and weaknesses. So, why does this Black man not recognize the white man’s tendency just as well and take the appropriate corrective action?  Is it possible that this Black man does in fact recognize the white mans tendencies but accepts his subservient role and meager place in society?  In addition could it be that this Black man is just lazy and chooses not to take on the challenge and offer up a legitimate fight because it warrants an effort to pursue an education and  employment?  What are the underlying reasons that have compelled or caused this Black man to evolve into the wandering soul that he is today.

One reason this black man of today has lost his way is because he does not have the father figure in the family environment who is the representation of courage and will. This Black man’s father  would be the foundation of strength and cohesiveness that binds the family structure.  This Black man’s life has become void of direction because the father is absent to give him guidance and instill in him the qualities that are necessary for him to forge through life. This Black man has become weak and soft because the father is not there to act as the role model and mold him as the patriarch of the family. This Black man is not educated because the father is not there to ensure that he stays in school to pursue a much-needed education. This Black man has no one to instruct or teach him how to or what it means to be responsible and respectful. This Black man hasn’t a father figure to set the example of what it means to acquire gainful employment and put in a hard days work so that he can provide for his family. This Black man has no father to explain to him what it means to be a man of knowledge, morals and integrity and most of all the importance of fatherhood. This Black man lacks an education, coping skills, self-respect, self-identity, self-esteem, self-confidence, direction, self-determination and motivation as it pertains to becoming a relevant, respected and venerated human being.

This Black man has no concept of respect but when he feels disrespected he will resort to violence or even murder because his mind has been corrupted and he is emotionally weak. This Black man of today has fallen prey to misinformation of false prophets and false imagery of power and success which he chooses to model himself after. This Black man because of his weaknesses  will gravitate towards guns, drugs and gangs to pursue a life of criminal activity . He will not pursue an education for the mere fact that it is to hard for him and he has convinced himself through irrational thought to rationalize his excuse that it is emulating white people.  He will also tell himself and the teacher he doesn’t want someone telling him what to do  and that the entire process is pointless and of no service to him.

However, he will gladly commit a crime and surrender his life and freedom in exchange for the comfort of  incarceration where he is relegated to a number and has someone monitoring his every move twenty-four (24 ) hours a day. This Black man is housed, clothed and fed and has no responsibilities whatsoever other than to eat, sleep and maybe bathe. This Black man has willingly shackled his mind and handcuffed his future by an act of stupidity and irrationality.  This Black man has now been locked away in an institution which in itself represents another form of imposed subjugation and his life has basically been rendered meaningless. This Black man has capitulated to the white man and evolved into a weak species whose life may just become a complete and utter failure. This Black man has welcomed his role as a modern-day slave and has no qualms about living his life within the confines of these prison walls……. I am unable to  fathom the logic  here, if any…..

The white man knows this which is exactly why he continues to build prisons as it has become a multi-billion dollar business to incarcerate and enslave this Black man……

http://www.africanglobe.net/headlines/americas-prison-industry-big-business-form-slavery/

The true strength of a Black man comes from within, from his knowledge of self,  education, integrity, values, self-respect and from the Black woman who stands beside him and supports him.  A true Black man is a man of unwavering principles, dedication to family and friends, someone who respects himself and by doing so will garner the respect of those around him. A true Black man will lead by positive example and allow his body of work to speak for him. A true Black man will not submit his will and will not allow himself to be placed into a life of subjugation. A true Black man will make responsible decisions and have the ability to recognize his flaws and mistakes and correct them. A true Black man is true to himself and others. To be continued……….

Bamboozeled Part 2

We today have  a large percentage of our brothers and sisters who are  unproductive and aspiring to be something that is elusive.  We find them chasing after an elusive life which emulates false images of fame and stardom. We witness them embracing a lifestyle that is rife with violence, no sense of direction, no education, no self-identity, no self-esteem, or self-confidence. These people are the sheep who have strayed away from the flock and have fallen victim to false prophets and salivating predators that use them for their own self gain. Most individuals lack any concept of what real success is and how it can be attained. Consequently what they decide to chase after is fleeting and non-substantive( importance or value). Is it because we still are riffed with a self-imposed slavery mentality or a self defeatist attitude?

Are we to afraid of pursuing an education or some legitimate skill set that would allow us to assimilate into the world of responsibility and productivity?  By our lack of desire to ascend to greater heights we are relegated to a position where others dictate what we can and can not do. Where we can and can not live. What schools our children can and can not attend. We have relinquished any form of control to the whim of the white man. I must reiterate that we have allowed ourselves to unknowingly be subdued and brainwashed and have lapsed into a more advanced and modern-day form of slavery. We believe ourselves to be in control but we are actually not. We are completely insentient and do not realize it.
We tell ourselves that to have a command of the English language is to speak like a white person. To be be an educated person and want to have access to the finer things in life is to emulate white people. We continuously say that we don’t want to be like white people. Yet every day I see black men and women emulating the very people that they proclaim not to want to be anything like. I see sisters with breast implants, an assortment of different colored wigs and weaves that they wag back and forth like some attention seeking white girl. They’re inserting  blue, green and hazel colored contacts or having their pupils injected with color altering chemicals  and bleaching their skin. What the heck is that all about if not someone who is in denial, full of self-hatred and doesn’t know who they really are?
This also applies to brothers with the tattoos depicting the thug life and riding around in cars that have been blinged out with accessories that usually cost more than the car is worth. When some of them open their mouths to speak I need sub titles to understand what the heck they’re saying. The style of dress is to  wear pants down and low exposing buttocks for all to see and the accessories of the day are gold covered teeth ( referred to as a grill ). This is absolutely pitiful and yet it is embraced, accepted and glamorized.
You have been dining on and digesting a constant diet of  B.S. and either you are too stupid to realize it or  you have no other aspirations in life so this is what is embraced.  This is the flavor of success your palate has acquired a taste for .  You want to sample being a rapper or maybe a thug and live a gangster lifestyle.  Definitely the wrong selection on the menu!!! Here are just a couple of examples used in the industry to “BAMBOOZLE” the unsuspecting prey.

Example; Rappers on video proclaiming to be thugs and gangsters drinking booze and waving around assault weapons and handguns. ie: white gangsters and thugs from the 1920’s to 1960’s who robbed and killed each other indiscriminately for territory and control over illegitimate enterprises. They also did not have any regard for a human life..
Example: P Diddy and fellow rappers on video sporting a white robe, slippers and cigar in hand occupying a high end hotel room.
Example: P Diddy in commercial promoting Cirock accompanied by some actors better known for their mob roles along with beautiful long-legged women and other well dressed people. Boarding a private jet and flying out to Vegas and seen traversing through an extravagant palatial hotel or casino, dancing with beautiful women and toasting the high life!!!!! Yeah, we should all aspire for that lifestyle. I understand the marketing concept and the promotion of your product but there is also a message that is being sent that is not conducive or in step with the plight of most ordinary African-American people. It is a self promoting commercial to get you to buy into the false imagery of what your life could be like if you would only buy and drink Cirock. They are selling you on the glamorous life of Las Vegas, private jets, pretty women, partying and expensive hotel accommodations. Oh and let’s not forget the alcohol to which  African-Americans spend over 400 million dollars annually to consume. This is a lifestyle that most people will never acquire in their lifetime and if they do they’ll just end up pissing it away.
This does not begin nor end with P Diddy but is a poison that has been perpetuated by him and others in that arena.
Rapping used to be something that was fun and good to listen to because it was fresh and new. But then some cats figured they would use it as a vehicle to send their message of oppression that was accompanied by the blatant disrespect of our women, use of drugs, alcohol, and violence.  Music execs are the pimps, rappers are the prostitutes selling the goods and you are the tricks that purchase it. So I guess at the end of the day your just being played. Just another hustle and form of Black Exploitation!!!

The record labels recognized a prime opportunity to make an enormous amount of cash by grabbing these rappers to write and deliver these lyrics of hate, disrespect and violence and selling it to you.
They are trick ‘in you people by selling you on a lifestyle that most of them only write lyrics about and do not live. You buy into it because you are easily BAMBOOZLED.  You lack the ability to discern between what is genuine and what isn’t. What is reasonably achievable and what isn’t. I’m not for one minute suggesting that you don’t aim high but it is what you’re aiming high for that matters. I do not have an issue with someone expressing what they are experiencing however there must be some accountability. We have to take responsibility for what we are saying and how that is received by others. The platform was a great one that could have been utilized to raise the awareness level and empower the masses but it got turned into a pimp machine…

As long as we continue to pursue these types of misguided dreams and lifestyles, great and meaningful achievements will never happen. End of Story!

Ecstasy ( A Poem )

Images of our bodies entwined, locked in heated passion

Uttered sounds come not from mind, but sing of certain rapture

Sensations flow in dance, created from our groove

Facial expressions are profound, contorting with every move

Streams of perspiration flow, from rivers full of lust

Frantic beatings of our hearts, on verge of bursting cusps.

Deeper and deeper we plunge, oblivious to all else

Fingers roaming excitedly, the terrain quivering when felt.

Harder and harder with more rapidity, thrusting to explode

Reminiscent of a volcano, seething with her load

Thirsting between our loins, her walls tightened anticipating consumption,

Pleasures unmasked in our eyes, delighted from eruption

Tingling sensations throughout,  spasmodic motions subside,

Limbs wrapped and tangled tightly, fluids within collide

Relaxation is overwhelming, breaths coming full and deep

Still our bodies caressed, this moment is ours to keep

Images in our mind, locked in heated passion

Uttered sounds come not from mind, but sing of certain rapture

Anticipation mixed desire, thoughts profoundly imagined indeed

Depths of pleasure unsurpassed, a moment of ecstasy.

Bamboozeled Part 1

The majority of Black peoples inability to excel in life are compounded by obstacles that are both self-inflicted and institutionally imposed. There are certain aspects of life that one must grasp or have some semblance of in order to be the slightest bit relevant in this world. The absence of education and knowledge places one at the mercy of others because it leaves one irrelevant, at a disadvantage and vulnerable. It will more often than not handicap your ability to progress or to achieve your goals.

The basic necessities needed to forge through life are simple and far from complex. We are continuously making life much more difficult than it needs to be. If we were to just gather ourselves and map out a simple course of action needed to accomplish some very basic goals we would be able to position ourselves for greater opportunities. But this however is something that a large majority of us black folk fail to do. We have become so accustomed to being irrelevant and complacent that we don’t even realize it. The process of devaluation and the marginalization by Europeans ( so-called white America ) over the years has damaged us to the point where we lack any positive perception of ourselves. To further compound this issue we are void of any substantive structure and discipline within our families and communities. We elect not to educate ourselves because of our self defeatist and nonchalant attitudes which also serve as constant road blocks in our life. We are rife with self-hatred and absent of self-identity which leads us to emulate the wrong people. We convince ourselves that a formal education and the ability to articulate oneself are qualities and characteristics unique to European ( so-called white people ). It is however quite the contrary, for these are essential components required to achieve any degree of success as a Black man or human being?

One major problem is that we handcuff and shackle ourselves mentally and physically. That for the most part is a very disturbing self-inflicted phenomenon. It is a process that requires very little effort on our part which is mainly due to complacency and familiarity. We tend to not possess the motivation or desire that is needed to change our situations. We have always succumb to our own fears, preconditioning and laziness. It has become too comfortable for us in our environment and we lack the initiative to strive for something better or different. Our little communities are a safe haven for us which doesn’t demand anything except for the mere desire to exist. How disturbing is that? There are a disproportionate number of us who want to maintain the status quo and will not do anything that threatens it. We will not venture out of our immediate environment to explore possibilities of what life has to offer. We have become extremely comfortable with the current circumstances and have no inclination to change it. Fear and a lack of self-confidence……

We have without a doubt been bamboozled and don’t even realize it. During four hundred plus years of slavery, we have been separated from our home country, stripped of our identity, afflicted with self-hatred, inflicted with cruel, vicious, inhumane treatment,. Not permitted to read, write, educate ourselves or to speak back to the European (so-called white man) without fear of physical retribution. We have had our spirits broken to demoralize us,  our dignity castrated, endured unquestionable suffrage and have had to accept the  Europeans ( so called whites ) as our masters and the superior race. We have been systematically conditioned to depend on these people for our very existence. That without their shameful arrogant pretentious benevolence we are meaningless and helpless. They have portrayed themselves as the savior and we have become the lamb of the field. The majority of Black folk are very much like sheep or cattle, breeding and wandering about aimlessly all day grazing in the pasture.  We have been conditioned for docility and should we become unruly, his trusted herd dog (police) will restore things back to order.

This shepherds philosophy has become virtually ingrained in the minds of so many black folk . He has implemented a strategy of domination via psychological implementation, communication and demonstration. He has pitted the house negro against the field negro. The dark-skinned negro against the lighter skinned negro. The kinky and curly-haired negro against the straight and thin haired negro. The fat lipped and broad nosed negro against the thin-lipped and narrow nosed negro. The ignorant and inarticulate negro against the educated and articulate  negro. This strategy has been adopted and implemented to perfection and the majority of us have become afflicted with it. The concept is to obliquely systematically divide and conquer. It is called The Willie Lynch syndrome and it has encapsulated us by design, we just don’t know it. We need to wake up out of our stupor and realize that in order to remove these restraints we must liberate our minds and transform our attitudes. We must construct and embrace a rejuvenated renaissance within the Black communities and Black culture. Otherwise we will forever roam the pastures and graze among the grasses of ignorance. To be continued….

America’s New Militarized Police

militarization

All across America we have come to notice a very alarming and fear provoking presence. One of unprecedented power and discomfort that invokes both thoughts and feelings of bewilderment. This uncommon sight that we are only accustomed to seeing in times of war, has overtly made it’s presence visible in the streets of America. We are familiar with seeing such powerful weaponry broadcast on our news programs on foreign soil to battle America’s enemies and fight against those who threaten to inflict harm on her body of democracy. America has been to us the home of unbridled freedom and liberties. She has embraced her children in her bosom to protect them against those that would cause them harm.

Today, her children are confronted with a militarized presence that one would only expect to see in a dictatorial country.  We have come face to face with weaponry of enormous power on full display in the streets of America where we assemble for peaceful protest and freedom of speech. These high powered assault rifles in the possession of local police decked out in full combat gear have on numerous occasions had their sights aimed at unarmed American citizens. When has America’s citizens become the target of oppression by the very force that is compensated to protect them? Granted, there aren’t any written laws or legislature that affords us this right.

The right to protest is a perceived human right arising out of a number of recognized human rights. While no human rights instrument or national constitution grants the absolute right to protest, such a right to protest may be a manifestation of the right to freedom of assembly, the right to freedom of association, and the right to freedom of speech[1] paragraph taken from wikipedia

However, unarmed citizens that do not pose a threat to anyone and the very presence of this militarized force in our streets leaves one with the visual impression of a war zone. Have we now become the enemy and a threat to national security instead of the terrorist? Why has law enforcement been given a free pass to terrorize and violate the rights of American citizens whom they are sworn to serve and protect? Do we not recall how innocent and unarmed students of Kent State who were shot and killed by our own National Guardsmen?  Arming our police officers with military weaponry is like giving gasoline and a match to an arsonist. They just can’t resist the urge to use it….This level of power and autonomy for paid civilians is much to intoxicating and extremely dangerous. It invites a tyrannical mentality that completely clouds the judgement between duty, law, justice and abuse. Such an obscurity is unavoidable.

Not only has this type of power been on display in times of peaceful protest it has also been used for calls to private residences for the most minor complaints. It has been used to murder a homeless man in New Mexico in the act of compliance. They have burst into homes in the dead of night unannounced and have terrorized unsuspecting citizens with their presence and a complete disregard for civil liberties. Flash grenades have been tossed in a babies crib almost killing the infant. The majority of these incidents did not warrant such an extreme use of  force. We have heavily armored mine resistance trucks that have been acquired for college campuses. Really? The very notion that in this day and time we would be subject to such a blatant disregard for our lives by our own is unfathomable and unacceptable. We have become irrelevant while the unconscionable actions of law enforcement appear to be irrepressible. This is what you breed when you arm regular citizens who haven’t any military training whatsoever. It is a complete abuse of power and a recipe for disaster. We the citizens are on the receiving end of this horrific blunder. What we see is very reminiscent of Afghanistan, Iraq or some other country that is in a never any cycle of violence and conflict. This is America and those countries we are not.

We are not the enemy and we will no longer continue to be treated as such. We have arrived at the point where we the citizens require protection from the protectors. It is time to disarm and dismantle this institution of law enforcement of it’s military weaponry. They haven’t any justifiable purpose to be in possession of it. More importantly, America is the land of freedom and justice for all and she should exemplify that.  She has slowly strayed from her constitutional promise and is precariously slipping off the foundation on which she was constructed. It is incumbent upon us that we right her before she completely collapses.

GENERATIONAL SUICIDE

GENERATIONAL SUICIDE AMONG BLACK PEOPLE IS WHAT I REFER TO AS A SELF DESTRUCTIVE MENTALITY WHICH HAS A LARGE PERCENTAGE OF MY PEOPLE  SUBMERGED  IN A STATE OF MENTAL AND ECONOMICAL PARALYSIS. WE HAVE BECOME PERVASIVELY MALIGNED BY OUR OWN LACK OF EDUCATION, MISINFORMATION AND IGNORANCE.

WE HAVE ARRIVED AT A PERIOD IN TIME WHERE THE WORLD HAS TRANSITIONED INTO A PLACE THAT IS RIFE WITH TERRORISTS ATTACKS , CONFLICTS, WARRING FACTIONS, RELIGIOUS AND POLITICAL CONTROVERSY, GLOBAL WARMING, SOCIAL UNREST, ECONOMICAL IMBALANCE, CLASS WARFARE, DISEASE, HOMELESSNESS, SELF DESTRUCTION OF HUMANKIND, ABSENCE OF INTEGRITY, MORALS, SELF IDENTITY, KNOWLEDGE AND EDUCATION.

WE ARE ENCAPSULATED IN IGNORANCE, MASS CONFUSION AND POSSESS VERY LITTLE UNDERSTANDING OF THE WORLD IN WHICH WE LIVE. CONSEQUENTIALLY THIS HAS GIVEN RISE TO SO MANY OF US BEING VOID OF ANY REAL SENSE OF PURPOSE OR DIRECTION AND TO WHICH A LOT HAVE FALLEN PREY TO AN INDUSTRY THAT SELLS THEM ON GANGSTERISM, THUG-ISM AND GLAMORIZES THE DEGRADATION OF WOMEN AND MURDER. WE HAVE BEEN SO CONDITIONED THAT WE LACK ANY SEMBLANCE OF SELF RESPECT OR RESPECT FOR OTHERS. SO I ASK THE QUESTION, HOW CAN WE EXPECT TO COMMAND ANY RESPECT IF RESPECT IS NOT GIVEN?.

WE ENGAGE IN UNLAWFUL ACTS OF VIOLENCE, DRUGS, THIEVERY, CHICANERY AND CONDUCT OURSELVES WITH UTTER BUFFOONERY FOR THE WORLD TO WITNESS. WE ARE MURDERING EACH OTHER WITH A COMPLETE DISREGARD FOR HUMAN LIFE. WE HAVE SLIPPED INTO AN ABYSS OF BOTTOM FEEDERS WITH NO CLEAR SENSE OF DIRECTION. THIS DEBILITATING AND DESTRUCTIVE CONDITION HAS BEEN ALLOWED TO PROLIFERATE FROM GENERATION TO GENERATION. NOW, A LARGE SEGMENT OF OUR POPULATION HAVE BECOME SELF APATHETIC DARKNESS DWELLERS  AFFLICTED WITH IGNORANCE. THEY ARE  ABSOLUTELY VOID OF ILLUMINATION AND ARE PRODUCING CHILDREN WHO WILL BECOME IMMERSED IN THE SAME CYCLE OF MADNESS.. HOW IS IT THAT SO MANY OF US HAVE DESCENDED INTO A STATE OF DISCONNECT, POVERTY AND WRETCHEDNESS AFTER THE  GREAT ACCOMPLISHMENTS OF THE 60’s AND 70’s?
HISTORICALLY OUR UNEMPLOYMENT RATE HAS ALWAYS BEEN ALMOST TWICE THAT OF WHITES.
OUR  PER CAPITA INCOME HOUSEHOLD IS THE LOWEST AMONG ANY ETHNIC GROUP
WE HAVE THE HIGHEST HIGH SCHOOL DROP OUT RATE WHICH IS TWICE THAT OF WHITES
WE HAVE THE HIGHEST NUMBER OF FAMILIES LIVING JUST ABOVE OR BELOW THE POVERTY LINE.
WE ARE INCARCERATED AT A MUCH HIGHER RATE. APPROXIMATELY 40% OF 2.5 MILLION MALE INMATES ARE BLACK. FORTY PERCENT, THAT’S ALMOST HALF THE MALE INMATE POPULATION
WE HAVE DOUBLE THE AMOUNT OF TEENAGE PREGNANCY THAN WHITES
THIS UNDOUBTEDLY IS NOT A PATHWAY TO SUCCESS BUT MORE OF A PATH THAT MOST ASSUREDLY WILL LEAD TO FAILURE AND SELF DESTRUCTION. THE LIST OF NEGATIVE COMPONENTS IS EXTENSIVE AND YET WE EITHER CHOOSE NOT TO TAKE NOTICE OR WE NOTICE AND CHOOSE NOT TO ACKNOWLEDGE IT. EITHER WAY THE DISEASE WILL MALIGN US FOR GENERATIONS AS IT GOES UNABATED AND CONTINUES TO REMAIN A PREVALENT AND DESTRUCTIVE ORGANISM WITHIN US, OUR COMMUNITIES AND THE WORLD IF LEFT UNABATED. THESE STATS ARE SHAMEFUL AND UNACCEPTABLE AS IT  ILLUSTRATES THAT WE ARE OUR OWN WORST ENEMIES. THE LIVES SACRIFICED DURING THE PERIODS OF THE CIVIL RIGHTS  AND VOTER RIGHTS REGISTRATION ERA ALONG WITH THE BLACK POWER  MOVEMENTS HAVE BECOME A DISTANT MEMORY.
AS THE OCEANS OF TURMOIL, INACTION, DISCOURAGEMENT AND DISCONTENT CONTINUES TO GROW, WE FIND OURSELVES HAVING DIFFICULTY NAVIGATING THE WAVES TO CLEAR PASSAGE. OUR VESSELS ARE WEAK, ILL CONSTRUCTED AND THE CREWS LACK THE KNOWLEDGE AND LEADERSHIP NEEDED TO MAKE THIS JOURNEY.  ONCE WE EMBARK ON THIS JOURNEY OUR VESSEL ( Movement ) MUST BE CONSTRUCTED OF GREAT STRENGTH ,ENDURANCE AND INTEGRITY.  IT MUST HAVE THE ABILITY TO WITHSTAND THE CONSTANT ONSLAUGHT FROM THE BATTERING WAVES OF THE ENEMY, THE DISCONTENTED AND THE NAYSAYERS.  WE MUST HAVE AN EDUCATED, KNOWLEDGEABLE, COURAGEOUS CREW WITH UNWAVERING QUALITIES OF LEADERSHIP AND COMMITMENT.
WE MUST ALWAYS BEAR IN MIND THAT CHANGE IS INEVITABLE AND UNDOUBTEDLY WILL COME. HOWEVER, FOR THE TYPE OF CHANGE THAT WE ENVISION REQUIRES US TO POSITION OURSELVES ACCORDINGLY AND SEIZE THE OPPORTUNITY TO EFFECT THAT CHANGE.  WE CAN NOT RELY ON THE EFFORTS OF OTHERS OR SOME NOTION OF BEING FORTUNATE (LUCKY). OUR DESTINY IS SHAPED BY OUR DECISIONS AND WHAT WE DO MOVING FORWARD AND LUCK ONLY OCCURS WHEN OPPORTUNITY MEETS PREPAREDNESS. YOU CAN PLAY THE LOTTERY, HIT THE JACKPOT, AND STRIKE A FORTUNE.  HOWEVER IF YOU DO NOT POSSESS THE KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED TO MANAGE YOUR NEW FOUND WEALTH, YOU WILL SURELY SQUANDER IT.
WE MUST FIRST AND FOREMOST TAKE A LOOK AT OURSELVES AND DECIDE THAT IF WE WANT CHANGE FOR THE BETTER, WE MUST UNDERGO A TRANSFORMATION OF OUR MIND, BODY, PHYSICAL, AND SPIRITUAL ENVIRONMENTS. WE CAN NO LONGER CONTINUE TO FUNCTION IN A MANNER THAT IS COUNTER PRODUCTIVE TO OUR SUCCESS. THE TIME HAS ARRIVED FOR US TO BE RELEVANT BUT JUST HOW RELEVANT, DEPENDS ON OUR OWN TRANSFORMATION. WE MUST ERADICATE OURSELVES OF THE SELF DEFEATIST ATTITUDES AND MINDSETS THAT HAVE PLAGUED OUR UPWARD MOBILITY AND WE MUST DISCONTINUE GRAVITATING TOWARDS THAT WHICH IS DESTRUCTIVE TO OUR WELL BEING AND QUALITY OF LIFE.  SUCCESS WILL BE PREDICATED ON HOW MUCH WE COMMIT OURSELVES TO THE PROCESS.
DEDICATION, DETERMINATION, DISCIPLINE AND DILIGENCE IS WHAT WE’LL NEED TO PERSEVERE .
WE  MUST ASK OURSELVES WHAT ARE WE WILLING TO CONTRIBUTE AND WHAT ARE WE PREPARED TO SACRIFICE  IN ORDER TO ACHIEVE THIS MILESTONE.  THE ANSWER TO THIS QUESTION WILL DETERMINE THE AMOUNT OF SUCCESS  REALIZED NOT ONLY FOR OURSELVES  BUT OUR CHILDREN. ANYTHING OF GREAT SIGNIFICANCE REQUIRES GREAT EFFORT…To Be Continued….
