WORDS

This particular topic has been swirling around in my mind for years and now I feel that the time has arrived for me to finally speak on it. As you can see, the title to this piece is (WORDS) and I’m going to speak about the power that people give them.. What exactly are words except a means of which we communicate and interact with one another for whatever the purpose may be. They are fundamental and primarily essential  to our understanding and learning but otherwise are not relevant…However, there are those people in the world who understand the power that words can have and will not hesitate to use them as a tool to divide, control, manipulate and exploit… So Beware!

Brevity and Vicissitudes

Hello and blessings to all. Let’s talk about the one thought I’m fairly certain that most of us at one time or another have had regardless of how long we may have been on this planet..and that is….
There just never seems to be enough allotted time and life as a lot of folks will say, is simply much too short. This is called brevity and we all can most definitely attest to its ups and downs which creates a perpetual ebb and flow of uncertainty and constant challenges which are vicissitudes.. Yeah, these are just two words out of many that most of us will never use or even know.  However, these two words sort of sum up life’s mortality, unpredictability and all that encapsulates it.

The Face of Hypocrisy, Ignorance and Denial (a pale-skinned man)

Welcome, you have now stepped into the realm of truth and hopefully you will enjoy the read and become another enlightened soul…

Human values are the principles, standards, convictions and beliefs that people adopt as their guidelines in daily activities. Principal human values are the foundation on which professional ethics are built. They are a set of consistent measures and behaviors that individuals choose to practice in the pursuit of doing what is right or what is expected of them in a humane society. Most laws and legislation are shaped by human values. If a country professes freedom, equality and justice for all as well as high moral family values then the leader of this country should embrace and reflect those same principles and values…

Now I for one am extremely aware of the pervasive and ubiquitous nature of hypocrisy in the makeup of our species and our society… I am aware of how it courses through the arteries of  the most unaltruistic of our kind and lends itself to malevolent folks who promulgate self-serving agendas.  I also understand completely how the process/action which is not seen (thought) allows compromise to maneuver and manipulate many people’s sense of values and principles which in turn open the door for hypocrisy to take root and flourish..If we paid closer attention to the behavior and actions (not rhetoric) of  said folks who demand our steadfast adherence to these fundamental values/principles we would acknowledge their blatant hypocritical posturing and require the same of them. Unless of course we choose to be swept up in a wave of ignorance and denial ourselves for whatever reasons…Which of course is exactly what the trumpeteers have elected to do!!

Conquering the Obstacle (Fear)

Welcome, this truth should speak to the hearts and souls of all people but mainly to my dark-skinned brothers and sisters with whom I hope my words will resonate deeply with..

The greatest hindrance to any one person being able to pursue aspirations and succeeding in life aside from those obstacles that have been systematically placed in their pathway is the propensity for procrastination, a lack of faith in our ability and fear. Of course I’m not referring to those folks who may have some form of physical or mental disabilities that may or may not be an impediment, but primarily to those of us who are in complete control of all of our faculties. I thoroughly understand what the ramifications and impacts of racism, bigotry, xenophobia, discrimination, sexism, injustice and other forms of practiced oppression may have on a person’s psyche. I get it, but in this country does it determine who we are and where we go in life? If not, then why on earth do so many of us settle for it?

Perception Influences Perspective

I know that a lot of folks will read this and find issue with it.. That’s understandable because I am challenging everything that you perceive and believe to be true in addition to how you perceive yourself and others to be. We have become so ingrained in certain teachings that we dear not consider the possibilities of those teachings to be incorrect and definitely not contrived. I would like you to take a moment to just consider who you are, what you are as well as how you think and how that has manifested into what and who you believe you are today.
My perceptions do influence my perspective and I attempt to look at things in a more abstract context. This allows me to form my views far outside the conventional school of methodology and thought. What we are is not necessarily who we are and vise versa.. What if we are just extensions of an intelligent consciousness that requires a physical state in order to exist? An intelligent energy that has designed not only the universe but everything that exists in it. Yeah, I know it sounds unbelievable but not nearly as much as the story of some white man with long  flowing white hair and beard who has been cast as the divine creator of all there is…If you can believe that well, surely you can entertain my theory!!!
So it is written that; In the beginning  God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form and void;  and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters… And God said, let there be light and there was light…Hmmm, I guess that would depend on what a so-called God is…
So, how do I perceive this and what is the perspective that I have?  Well, initially just like most people I suppose, I was taught that there was this divine God being who created the earth and every form of life that inhabits it… Consequently, my perception was dramatically influenced by what I was taught and the depictions of a  God that I was shown resulted in giving me a perspective (view) that was obscured and incorrect from these teachings… So, the question is; why was this done? The answer I believe that it was simply done as an effort to explain our presence here in a manner that we could relate too.It was considered blasphemous and heresy (and still is) to even think about questioning this myth..I decided to extricate my mind from the religions and their zealots, the so-called theologian scholars who are the conveyors of lies and deception and the purveyors of a manufactured creation story...
I will question the story and those who continue to promulgate it..

Perspective is a point of view, perception is what you interpret. Perspective is an evaluation or analysis of something. It takes into account a belief system as well as what is taken in by the senses.

Perception is what you interpret from your five senses, touch, smell, sight, hearing, and taste. Perception is the process of attaining awareness or understanding of sensory information.

I especially like the last part: the process of attaining awareness or understanding of (SENSORY) information. How many times have you had a gut feeling about something, ignored it and in retrospect said man I knew I should have listened to my gut? That my friends is what is referred to as intuition but we very seldom pay attention to it. How often have you felt pressured into doing something  that you didn’t want to do and regretted it afterwards? Our senses alert us of danger or when something just isn’t right but we continue to either ignore them, deny them and never challenge anything, We then find ourselves being coerced into it or we convince ourselves that it’s ok and end up regretting it later on..
Why and what the heck are we so afraid of?
Answer; Criticism and Ostracism.. Very powerful weapons!
We human beings are all the same and for the most part that is true to an extent, as it relates to the us as a species. Most of us share the 5 basic senses that we are born with; (smell, taste, sight, hearing, touch) and maybe a sixth; intuition. The latter being the one we often times fail to acknowledge..
Some other commonalities are more or less character traits  that are written into our DNA and others are what we develop or pick up along the way. The list is somewhat extensive; for example, anger, fear, strength, passivity, aggression, assertiveness, compassion, empathy, greed, hate, hypocrisy, deceit, jealousy, envy, lust, patience, impatience just to name of few. Whether good or bad, the behavior is more than likely to have a huge impact on our lives as well as others who are in our circle…
We also have a need to be loved and appreciated, a need for attention and recognition, a need to belong or accepted, some of us are self motivated, some not, some have aspirations, some just hope…My  contention is that because of the enormity of the needs, they tend to place us in an extremely vulnerable position where we find ourselves most often making compromises or unhealthy decisions just to address the needs. Or we find ourselves shackled to the ideologies and dogma of a society and system that uses us like slaves….

Dogma;  An authoritative principle, belief or statement of opinion, especially one considered to be absolutely true regardless of evidence, or without evidence to support it.

Ideology; Doctrine, philosophy, body of beliefs or principles belonging to an individual or group.  Continue reading Perception Influences Perspective

My last post I wrote a little about the “power of self” and this post as you can see is about the “power of influence”. Both of these correlate with one another because one cannot happen without affecting the other in some fashion (be that good or bad). We are all influenced in some manner or another and that can happen in many ways. I read this book called (The Psychology of Influence and Persuasion written by: Robert D. Cialdini, PhD) and I couldn’t help but think of how much it applies to this 2016 Presidential campaign and all the negative and repulsive ( yet revealing ) comments and antics that surrounded and enveloped it.  This book as well as this election is an in-debt revealing look into the weapons of persuasion and how they are implemented.. Unbeknownst to us, we encounter and fall prey to them almost every waking hour, minute and second of the day…

The “power of self” can also be an influence on not just our lives but the lives of others both indirectly and directly. Basically, what it boils down to is how one or the other is used.. Now these can be negative or positive but either way they are interlocked. Weapons of persuasion are used to affect our thoughts and emotions which will yield the desired effect. In this case, the outcome of the 2016 Presidential election!!!

This election has been exactly that, an overwhelmingly display of influence and weapons of persuasion. It serves as a classic example of how folks have allowed things they heard, things they wanted to hear but didn’t or things they thought they heard, things they saw, things they wanted to see but didn’t or things they thought they saw  affect their judgment and now we and the world bear witness to its effect . They have allowed elements or mediums outside of themselves to take complete control of their minds and emotions and affect them immensely without much evaluation. That which impacts our perception will ultimately affect our perspective.. The massive  amount of energy and effort set in motion campaigns on both sides whose purpose or intent was to ultimately persuade folks to vote for their respective candidates. There were also other entities, sources and people who individually and some collectively who spoke of how they felt about both candidates whether positively or negatively attempting to influence and persuade folks to vote or not to vote for these candidates. This occurred from all ethnic, religious and special interest groups. To sum it up, it was an immense aggregation and amalgamation of propaganda, emotions, thoughts, stink and garbage… Speaking of religion, isn’t there supposed to be a separation of church and state?? Oh that’s right, only when it is a matter of convenience and agendas……
Hypocrites!!! But ya’ll go ahead and keep listening and following these impostors and crooks masked in the cloth of righteousness….B.S.
